Sometimes artists just wanna have fun....
In 15th Century Skyscrapers I have used inlay technique for the first time. The birds are precisely cut from Japanese hand silk screened chiyogami paper to include the delicate gold border. Then they are inlaid into the underlying image to enhance the three dimensional effect. The birds are not carved around the perimeter, as are the other parts of the image, as it would make them appear clumsy. This artwork was a ridiculous amount of hours to complete! I am very happy with the outcome. |
