In the middle of the summer we like to sail our boat down the Thousand Islands area and enjoy dropping the anchor in a secluded and sheltered bay. We take the dinghy to explore small coves and meandering creeks. The following artworks were inspired by the abundance of life in calm waters hidden around the next bend in the stream.
In Wetland 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 I further explore the positive/negative relationship. The full image is presented; however some of the elements have no paper attached, just the outline is carved.
The Wetland 5, 6, 7 & 8 images are somewhat monochromatic using shades of gray & silver with the addition of burnt orange for the rushes. Only partially covering the image with papers is more technically challenging, delicate and time consuming to make. I am very curious to experiment more with this concept. |
